Today was our first meeting for the Italian Honor Society/Club. It started at 2:20 P.M. and ended at 2:45 P.M. Elections took place and our new officers were elected. Go to the officers page to find out who our new officers are. It was a short meeting but a productive one at that. Trips, the Columbus Day Festa, and the Induction Ceremony were discussed. Trips
One trip is to Medieval Times. Another possible trip would be to see La Boheme performed on Broadway during the afternoon. A meal at Little Italy would follow the modern day opera. These are just ideas but if any of you members has an idea for a trip to a museum in NY or anywhere please let us know.
Columbus Day Festa!
The annual Columbus Day Festa was a success! President Melissa Foti and Secretary Mike Marconi stayed after school to decorate the cafeteria. A huge amount of people came that night and or more was made at the ticket booth in addition to the money our officers and member contributed from their own ticket sales. Everyone brought food and drink. President Melissa Foti and advisor Mrs. Cuscina made short speeches and the music was awesome. Mike Marconi, the secretary was the president of the decorating committee for the festa. Cami, Vice-President, was president of the publicity committee and I also helped her advertise our festa by making posters. Melissa Foti, the president, bought supplies for the festa and Heather Zito, Treasurer, and Cami will tried to get donations from local resturants.
Induction Ceremony
Our Induction Ceremony was held on Thursday night, October 24,2002. It was a great success. Mrs. Cuscina welcomed everyone to the ceremony and introduced the officers. Secretary Michael Marconi read a summary of last years events and he read the Italian portion of the ceremony while member Anthony Capolongo translated it into English. Vice-President Cami D'Incenzio lit the three italian-flag colored candles and the new members read their oath, recieved certificates, and signed their names in our register book. It was held in the cafeteria. Mr. Goldstein spoke and said that this would be the last year the language honor society ceremonies will be held in the cafeteria. "Next year our auditorium will be open", he said.
